Day 197: July 15th – Mt. Tremblant final day

Overcast, high 80s, calm

It’s the final day of the Mt. Tremblant Blues Festival and the final determination is that the blues were great and the birding not-so-much.  We began the day by traveling up to the summit once again in the hopes of finding something a bit more exotic than the White-throat and Junco of yesterday.  If the Chipping sparrow qualifies in that regard, then we achieved our goal.  OK, not the greatest find, but a pretty little bird all the same.

We did hear some juncos, we saw a nice Common raven sitting on the cross-member of the gondola which brought us up to the top, and we did have another sighting or two of White-throated sparrows in fine breeding plumage, but beyond that, no too much in the way of what we had hoped for.

We did have the opportunity to catch some great birds, but they were of the captive kind.  The resort has a live raptor show each day which is put on by a rehabilitation organization.   Last time we were up on the mountain, I did capture some images of these wonderful birds, so I’ll share a couple of those with you to round out today’s blog.
